Watch and learn: videos and series to improve environmental literacy

There’s no single type of person who can benefit from environmental literacy, so we don’t limit ourselves to one kind of video. We’ve produced bite-sized vlog series, explainers and longer documentaries, and we’re always thinking about what to try next.

Countryside Pollution

standalone video – longer watch

Produced in association with Friends of the Dales.

Asking questions and coming to consciousness

Amira, a British Asian teenager, visits the Yorkshire Dales National Park. As she recognises the beauty of the landscape, she is puzzled by the thousands of plastic tree tubes. This prompts her to do some research and come to consciousness about the issue.

Countryside Pollution is part of the Friends of the Dales Living Woods campaign.

Margaret’s Story

standalone video – longer watch

Produced in association with ACE Settle and Area.

(What’s ideostone? That was the brand name for our environmental literacy work when we produced Margaret’s Story.)

One woman’s journey toward climate awareness

Margaret's Story was screened as part of the Settle Stories’ Yorkshire Festival of Story 2022. The film follows Margaret, a grandmother in her early 70s, as she finds out about climate breakdown. Learn with her as she begins to understand the consequences, both personally and for the wider community.

This accessible and engaging animation is the perfect primer for those wishing to understand climate breakdown and the climate emergency from a personal perspective, and to comprehend the societal challenges we all face. Take 30 minutes out of your day to watch Margaret’s Story and begin your path to climate awareness.
